About

urna was built by a solo founder, in the hope that it does a little good in the world.

The whole thing rests on an old idea from Buddhist practice called right livelihood: that the work you do for a living should not cause harm, and should, where it can, do a little good. In plain terms that means building something honest and useful, and taking no more than you give.

So that is the rule urna is held to. No ads, no tracking, nothing sold, no quiet ways of taking more than you offered. Your money is hard enough to manage without a tool that profits off watching you do it. urna just tries to be useful and to stay out of your business.

urna is free. The people who need a tool like this most are rarely the ones with money to spare for budgeting software, so there is no paywall and no upsell. If you find it useful and are able, there is a Ko-fi where you can donate $1 a month to support the work and help keep the tools free and up to date. It is never expected.
